The product with the most Geographical Indications in Brazil

Coffee is the product with the most Geographical Indications registered in Brazil. The first was Cerrado Mineiro, recognized in 2005 as an Indication of Source and elevated to Denomination of Origin in 2013. Then came Norte Pioneiro do Paraná, Alta Mogiana, Mantiqueira de Minas, Região de Pinhal, Campo das Vertentes, Matas de Minas, Caparaó, Montanhas do Espírito Santo, Matas de Rondônia and Garça, among others — Denominations of Origin and Indications of Source from Rondônia to Paraná. Each was born from a producers’ association that delimited the area, wrote the specifications book and took responsibility for the region’s name. This showcase features the 20 coffee regions that, with support from Sebrae, ABDI and Instituto CNA, adopted digital origin control: it guarantees the quality and origin of every lot and communicates that to national and international markets.
